We started out for Faro today to see the sights in Faro and to rent a car. We had lots of things to see and our train companion had convinced us we needed one. The prices were reasonable when we checked a couple days ago and aside from parking driving seemed doable.
We get to Hertz at the Faro airport and the price for the car rental alone was near 400 euro. After some discussion with the rental agent we decided we could get a lot of Ubers for that money and left.
Faro. We did a one hour sight seeing tour on a little train bus thingy. Bouncing along the cobblestone streets. Faro is a gritty, poor city without visible redeeming qualities.
Olhao. We went here based on the recommendation of our friend in the train. Beautiful promenade along the shore with restaurant after restaurant along the way. Here we shared a seafood platter and it was likely one if the best meals of the trip.

Tavira: Filled with history Tavira has a castle and a beautiful town square with stadium seating surrounding a performance space. We could hear echos of jousting and blood sports. Tavira is situated next to a river and two long bridges add a lot of character to this main street. Tavira is my favorite town so far.
